Experience change together — with PostFossilCities

What fundamental problem are you addressing?

Despite technical solutions and political goals, cities often lack a common, motivating vision of the future: What does climate-neutral life look like in practice? Which measures are really effective? Who needs to work together — and how do we achieve change in time? Climate protection is rarely understood as a collective, local process of learning and change. This is exactly where PostfossilCities comes in: The game makes complex relationships (heat, electricity, mobility, space, food) tangible and enables dialogue between politics, the population, energy suppliers and other actors.

Which habits would you like to change or mainstream through which approach?

We want to make participation in urban transformation the norm — as an integral part of climate strategies, energy planning and urban development. postFossilCities breaks down role models, enables new alliances and provides space for systemic thinking. It can be experienced: No sector acts alone, transformation requires cooperation. The game makes participation tangible — as a collective process with a noticeable impact.

What would you like to work on during the booster?

- Development of a context-specific urban debriefing format
- Visualization of simulation data to support dialogue (if necessary)
- Building a community of practice (platform, exchange formats, explanatory video)
- Support for 5 PostFossilCities workshops in Swiss cities/municipalities (additional funding, the basic requirement is the financial participation of the organizer as well)

Objective: A multipliable format that municipalities, NGOs & initiatives can use independently.
