Ting - share money & opportunities

Verein Grundeinkommen
HSLU – Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts

What fundamental problem are you addressing?

The population is increasingly struggling with the effects of the multiple crises that we are confronted with as individuals and as a society. The way we work, live, the environment and society are fundamentally changing. Responding to these changes and implementing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) requires individual commitment, available resources and specific capabilities of a person (IDGs). However, the means for this are difficult to access or are not available to everyone. That's where Ting comes in.

Many people in Switzerland do not have enough financial resources and the associated opportunities to implement socially relevant projects. This is where Ting comes in by making money collectively available and redistributing it. Based on holistic systems theory, Ting promotes positive interaction between the three systems of man, society and nature. Our systemic hypothesis is that sharing resources within a community based on solidarity can help address social problems, promote personal empowerment and raise awareness of the common good. The democratic decision-making process is completely scalable: All members can sign up for participation; as the community grows, the number of auditors increases proportionally.

In addition to financial support, Ting intends to focus even more on sharing knowledge, resources and experience in the future. With the support of InnoBooster, we want to find out, among other things, what is needed so that Ting becomes a place in the future where people not only share money but also time, skills and services.

In order for us to reach the mass efficiently and within the resources available to us (MarCom budget) in the future, we need data-based marketing and scaling processes as well as validated insights into the population's SDG preferences.

Which habits would you like to change or mainstream through which approach?

Ting enables people to share money easily, transparently and directly and thus finance projects that have a human-centered, social and ecological impact on society. All members pay an individual monthly contribution to a joint bank account. Collectively accumulated assets are redistributed using a proven pay-as-you-go procedure (AHV) to those who provide added value in line with the SDGs. Decisions are made democratically and by the community based on three criteria: 1) Positive impact on one's own life path (IDGs), 2) Added value for society (SDGs) and 3) Compliant with the law.

Collecting money creates more opportunities and opportunities for people with limited resources so that they can take on current challenges. The opportunity to participate in the use of resources leads to trust among each other and creates resilience within the community/society.

Thanks to Ting, people can see on a monthly basis that their “sharing behavior” leads to positive and sustainable social change.

In addition to financial sharing, there is also an increasing focus on sharing knowledge, skills and time. With Ting, this could create a comprehensive platform of solidarity, on which not only monetary but also intangible resources can be made available and shared jointly.

Ting is financed through membership fees and has already achieved a self-financing rate of 65%, which proves the long-term sustainability of the model.

What would you like to work on during the booster?

During the booster, we want to focus on Ting's data and research-based (SDG narrative) scaling. The aim is to further develop communication and marketing measures as well as the platform in such a way that they are recognized and converted in the “mainstream”. Building on the ongoing Innocheque (74783.1 INNO-SBM) with the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts, we want to test the knowledge gained there in practice using the sine milieus/SDG analysis. We measure success based on specific KPIs: member growth, conversion rates of the various channels and income (fees from membership fees).

At the end of the booster, a scaling strategy based on SDG narratives and data is available, as well as a concrete catalog of ideas for the development of the platform/services with regard to non-monetary parts.

The aim is to make Ting known in the middle of society and to make the principle of sharing resources into sections of the population that have had little or no contact with it so far, more popular.
